a plausable assasin?
My girlfriend really loves being an assasin.... she keeps asking is there a way to build an assasin. So... I was reading basically all the skills and the best thing I can come up with was to either build a warrior/ranger or ranger/warrior with mainly buffs to attack faster and evade (she loves attacking really really fast I have no idea why lol) So would it be any decent creating either a warrior/ranger or ranger/warrior neglecting the bow of course and use only speed buffs? Also I don't see anywhere regarding knives... so is the sword basically the only weapon that offers the fastest speed? (she also loves knives and katars... lol or duel weilding) So my other question is the weapons??? Are there only 3 type of melee weapons (swords, hammer, axe) and any such thing as duel weilding.... For me I'm going to go look around for mes/nec or nec/mes builds see which one suits my play style hehe This game seems really fun... Almost like card games (duel masters, yu-gi-oh, magic)
Thank you for answering questions in advance *bow *bow and excuses for any errors on punctuations, grammar, and/or spelling. |

You have Swords, Axes, Hammers, Bows, Staves and Wands at your disposal.
Your best bet for an Assassin-like character would be a Ranger/Warrior (or Warrior/Ranger) using Apply Poison with Swords, and perhaps use traps too. If what you're looking for is evading and faster hitting, then Lightning Reflexes has both. |

Probably Necro/Warrior or Warrior/Necro will be good too. Warrior/Ranger or Ranger/Warrior isn't a good combination IMHO.

personally, i would go with w/mes. warrior allready has speed boosts, and mesher can backfire a monk, or make iteasy to take down a ranger. well this is just what i thought you would want, i never really liked necro, and w/r isnt the best combo i dont think. well i guess its really a personal oppinion

I'd imagine an Assassin-esque build would be something like this:
Ranger/Warrior Expertise: 10 + 2 (Major Rune) Wilderness: 8 + 1 (Minor Rune) Swords: 12 Apply Poison - Assassin staple. Flurry - dextrous fighter staple. Barbed Trap - used with Escape, or when no one is paying you any attention. Escape (E) - high evasion and running away, an Assassin staple. Hundred Blades - used with Apply Poison. Seeking Blade - this or Sever Artery, either way. Hamstring - stop targets from running, which I guess is what Assassins want. Final Thrust - the coup de grace, an Assassin staple. Keep in mind that this build will be mostly a style thing, so don't expect this build to be the super cool Assassin you or your girlfriend dreamed of. |

I've been trying to build one as well, but I don't think there's anything that really matches up with a good all around Assassin. You CAN create characters that target a specific character type quite well. The problem is if you run into a character build that you are not focused against.
Keep in mind that what most of us have seen is just the beta weekend events (BWEs). There are supposed to be a lot more weapons on their way with the retail/final release April 28th. Then the first expansion (end of the year?) is supposed to have as much content as the final release, with possibly other playable races and character classes eventually being available. The Alpha's might know, but they can't confirm or deny any rumors. The game, from what I see, is really team-centric with player cooperation a large key to success. But that's not the whole game. You can do a lot of solo adventuring and 1 on 1 PvP is available, but the game really shines in team play. |

aha ahem thanks everyone for replying, but yeah I believe the best "assasin" build that will make my girlfriend happy is the rang/war or war/rang hehe thanks everyone

I made a somewhat unconventional assassin character here : Suicidal Assassin
Its an assassin that sacrifices his own health to annihilate the target. It has plenty of healing/life drain skills to keep its health up and the enemy's health down. |

OK, I'm wrong. Twice! Don't tell my wife, she'd point out some more.
Quoted from our friends over at gwonline.net: "During the E3 event we saw pretty standard weapons: swords, axes, hammers, bows, and a single type of staff. We've already seen the inclusion of some unique looking weapons from those categories, but ArenaNet has also indicated we can expect to see many more types. We haven't been told any specific types, however they have said if an item "sounds right" for a profession it will be added." Is it gospel? Nope, but I'm hoping for more variety. And I can't find a mention of 1 on 1 pvp anywhere. Might have read it on someone's wish list somewhere. Apologies for bringing these across as fact. |

It's very likely there will be more weapons in expansions, but not at release.
Q: Any new weapon types planned before release? A: No, just swords, hammers, axes, staves, wands, and canes. [Source] Yeah, he forgot to mention bows, but that was a slip. |

Well, my g/f is a Ragnarok Online assassin and from what I'm aware of, she too is a fast attack dual wielding dodge-like-sissy style assassin lover ^_^
hee hee I'd definitely go Ranger/Warrior on this build since Warriors simply don't have enough energy and the armor detriment is actually really low comparing ranger armor to warriors. [that and ranger girls are uber zexy, check out GW's newest official wallpaper ] Lightning Reflexes with Apply Poison and Marksman's Wager make for an assassin type who can kill either at a distance using Ranger weaponry or in your face with Warrior Swordplay. All in all deadly stuff. [Bleeding with Poison, ewww nasty damage over time ^_^] |

Nope. It says attacks and not arrows, and that is correct.
